Educational network license

The AIMMS Educational network license provides an unlimited number of unrestricted AIMMS versions including the LP, MIP, NLP, MINLP, and MCP solver. This means an unlimited number of AIMMS Large versions with an extended set of embedded solvers (including CPLEX, GUROBI, CONOPT, CBC, etc.) that can be run within your university network.

Educational single user license

To be able to run an AIMMS version without being connected to the network, we provide within the package at least one AIMMS Educational single user license of an unrestricted AIMMS version including the LP, MIP, NLP, MINLP, and MCP solver. This means an AIMMS Large version with an extended set of embedded solvers (including CPLEX, GUROBI, CONOPT, CBC, etc.). If additional Single User Licenses are required, up to a maximum of 3 additional licenses, they can be purchased upon ordering for $/€100* per single user license.

Student license

With the AIMMS 3 Educational License Package, you also will receive a special PC-based AIMMS Student license. The AIMMS Student license is limited in the number of identifiers (200) and the size of the optimization models (300x300), but allows students to create and run smaller AIMMS models on their own computer. This student license is only for educational purposes, and can be freely distributed among your students.

CPLEX, GUROBI, XA, CONOPT, LGO, AOA, and PATH solver

All AIMMS educational licenses include the following embedded solvers with no size restrictions: CPLEX, GUROBI, XA for LP/MIP, CONOPT, LGO for NLP, AOA (AIMMS Outer Approximation algorithm) for MINLP, and PATH for MCP. This means that all students, teachers and researchers have access to a professional solver for most types of mathematical programs.

COIN-OR Solvers

As of AIMMS 3.10, CBC and IPOPT are available at the COIN-OR website for use within AIMMS. The links are developed with the available AIMMS Open Solver Interface and everybody is invited to develop other interfaces of COIN-OR solvers (for more details, see the COIN-OR section on this website).

Robust Optimization add-on

As of AIMMS 3.11 FR1, the ability to generate Robust Optimization (RO) models from any LP Model is included in AIMMS. This Robust Optimization add-on is developed based on the RO Methodology of, and in co-operation with, Professor Ben-Tal of the Technion Institute in Israel. In general, any LP solver can be used for solving RO models. However, for a specific class (i.e. when the uncertainty is defined as an ellipsoid), CPLEX or MOSEK are required.

MOSEK solver link

In addition to the incorporated standard solvers, the AIMMS Education network and single user licenses also come with the MOSEK solver link of AIMMS. This makes it possible for you to hook up your existing (if available) license of MOSEK callable library to AIMMS. If you do not have any existing solver licenses, we can extend your package with these and other solvers at very attractive prices.

Limited BARON and KNITRO solver versions

The AIMMS 3 Educational License Package includes a free limited BARON solver version to solve problems with a maximum of 10 individual variables and 10 individual constraints. A free limited KNITRO version is also available with a maximum of 600 individual variables and 600 individual constraints.

Open Solver Interface

The AIMMS Open Solver Interface (OSI) allows you to link solvers to AIMMS through a collection of C++ interfaces. So if you do not find the solver of your liking and/or you want to link your own preferred solver to AIMMS, you can use the AIMMS OSI (for more details, see the AIMMS OSI section on this website).

Free maintenance

For the AIMMS Educational License Package no maintenance fees are required, thus updates and new AIMMS 3 releases will be provided free of charge.

The AIMMS Educational License Package can be ordered by filling out the on-line order form. Payment can be made by regular bank transfer; the required IBAN/BIC codes will be provided on your invoice. If you prefer to pay by credit card, please indicate this on the order form.

Special conditions

The following special conditions apply when purchasing an AIMMS Educational License Package:

The AIMMS Educational License Package may only be ordered by educational establishments and may only be used for non-commercial purposes.
To purchase an AIMMS Educational License Package, a purchase order must be fully completed with all required contact information.
The AIMMS Educational licenses have a limited time-span of one year. After this year, renewal of the one year licenses can be requested free of charge.
The AIMMS Educational licenses are developer licenses.
AIMMS is available for the Windows 32- and 64-bit platforms. The AIMMS Educational network license can also be used to run AIMMS applications to the Linux platform, but the AIMMS GUI is not available for Linux.
The AIMMS Educational licenses are protected by software nodelock licenses. Specific restrictions to limit use to the educational establishment are applied.
The AIMMS Educational package is only delivered eletronically.
Regarding the AIMMS Educational licenses, Paragon Decision Technology reserves the right to refuse a license upon request or refuse a renewal of the license when improper use of the license is suspected.
No rights of any kind can be obtained by users of these licenses.
