AIMMS - AIMMS Sizes & User Types

AIMMS 3 is a complete modeling environment including a LP/MIP, a NLP/QP/QCP solver, and a MINLP algorithm for developing fully functional decision support and optimization applications ready for use by decision makers, or creating optimization components to extend and boost your (existing) applications developed in e.g. Excel, C++, and Visual Basic.

However, since the use of AIMMS might differ from the actual development of applications and/or component, we offer AIMMS in three sizes and in four user types (including the AIMMS Viewer), typically as a local license for single use or as a network license for concurrent use. This way, we can provide you with the licenses that suits your needs.

AIMMS Sizes

Because not all applications require the unlimited solver capacities, but modelers do require the full modeling capacity of AIMMS, we offer AIMMS in 3 distinct sizes based on the mathematical models to be solved:

AIMMS User Types

Although AIMMS is a optimization modeling development tool, the usage of the decision support systems created with it goes far beyond model developers. Therefore we offer four license types that cover the possible usage of AIMMS:

Type	Typical Usage
Developer License	This license is for all AIMMS application developers building/modifying AIMMS applications and/or components. It can also be used as an End-User or Component license^.
End-User License	This license is for end-users that run AIMMS applications (without having to modify it) controlling it using the AIMMS graphical interface. It can also be used as a Component license.
Component License	This license is for end-users that run AIMMS components that are embedded into other applications created using for example Excel, C++, or Visual Basic.
Viewer License*	This license allows anyone to browse the results of an AIMMS-based optimization application through the graphical user interface of the application.

*) AIMMS Viewer

To enable AIMMS users to easily share the results of their AIMMS-based optimization applications with other people, we have developed a free AIMMS Viewer (per AIMMS 3.8). The AIMMS Viewer allows users to:

Open AIMMS applications that have been made viewable by the application developer.
Use the data manager to load the data of one or multiple cases created by an AIMMS application.
Browse the results through the graphical user interface (GUI) of the AIMMS application.

The table below shows the differences with the existing Developer, End-User and Component licenses. The AIMMS Viewer can be downloaded here. It is a separate installation that can be operated without a dongle or nodelock. The AIMMS Viewer is free: there is no license fee or maintenance fee.
