"Scheduling in SmartGrids"

Our 4th AIMMS MOPTA Modeling Competition is about the topic we all hear about daily. Many of our energy and energy related companies are working on optimization based solutions that include the use of SmartGrids. Whether it is doing strategic studies at e.g. energy institutions, or operational work to assure the best use of resources. For example, to minimize total energy consumption or minimize the cost of energy usage.
Summary of the assignment
In this competition, your team will develop a tool to handle the scheduling of appliances in a home (or in a neighborhood) that aims to reduce costs for the consumer while maintaining level loads for the utility company.
