AIMMS and Booz Allen Accelerate Operations Research and Decision Science

Seattle, WA - September 21, 2015 - AIMMS, a global leader of optimization software and Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH), a leading management consulting and technology services provider, are partnering to accelerate the practice of operations research and decision science. This partnership will bring the power of optimization to organizations to help them elevate decision-making through the use of data and computation to maximize mission and business performance.

AIMMS and Booz Allen will kick-off their partnership with an Optimization Hackathon at INFORMS’ Annual conference in Philadelphia on Saturday October 31st. The hackathon will tackle a real world problem from a Major U.S. Airline, encouraging students and recent grads to use modeling and optimization in order to solve complex business challenges. More information about the event is available at

The partnership will expand the use of optimization methods and analytics among Booz Allen consultants and clients and foster the development of technical advancements in the analytics field. Together with AIMMS, Booz Allen will accelerate the delivery of proof of concepts to clients. Examples of the power of the Booz Allen and AIMMS relationship include:

  • Law Enforcement Technology Deployment Model — To help minimize criminal risk in local communities, Booz Allen and AIMMS optimized scheduling of the deployment of law enforcement technologies. The modeling approach contributed to the Booz Allen and Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s award of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science’s (INFORMS) Innovation in Analytics Award in 2012.
  • Manpower Planning Model – With AIMMS optimization platform, Booz Allen developed recommendations to minimize potential labor shortfalls for the National Security Cutter at the United States Coast Guard.
  • Military Aircraft Maintenance Optimization – Booz Allen used AIMMS to develop the Capability and Capacity Assessment Decision Support (C2ADS) model for a defense organization in support of an investment study. The model forecasted total depot maintenance sustainment costs and determined optimal depot capability acquisitions to meet maintenance demand. C2ADS utilizes AIMMS’ optimization platform to minimize the cost of organic sustainment by optimizing the acquisition years of organic maintenance capabilities

“Our partnership with AIMMS enables us to continue to advance the field of Operations Research and Decision Science together, so that we can empower our clients with innovations that maximize business performance,” said Dr. Cenk Tunasar, principal, Booz Allen Hamilton.

AIMMS CEO Gijs Dullaert added: “We are committed to a long-standing successful relationship with Booz Allen and strongly believe that it will benefit our mission to bring the power of optimization to companies and elevate strategic, tactical and operational decision making. We look forward to driving innovation together.”
